Links and Resources

Here are some of our favorite solar links. More coming all the time.

State Incentives

  • DSIRE is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility, and federal incentives and policies that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. New York State incentives are here
  • New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) is the leading NY State body for all things on energy efficiency and renewable energy. They are a key ally in going green in the Empire State!

Solar and Energy Efficiency Organizations

Solar Training Organizations

  • Solar Energy International is one of the best solar electric and solar thermal training organizations in the United States.
  • Boots on the Roof is also a hands-on outstanding training organization located in San Jose, CA. They have a fantastic five-day "Solar Boot Camp" for emerging solar professionals. It was the best five days of my professional solar life; Hal Aronson and "Solar Mike" are two great teachers.
  • Sun Pirate offers a great on-line training course for solar electric and solar thermal. Very comprehensive and very cost effective. I loved the course and use the Jim Dunlap text book all the time. He is definitely a solar guru.

Solar Magazines

  • Solar Pro and Home Power are two great reads for those who want to truly understand how solar technologies work in the real work. We read them religiously.
  • Photon is a serious, dense, rich publication for hardcore solar professionals.

CVM Electric is a strong supporter of the Western New York Sustainable Energy Association.
